The Health Visitors are highly trained nurses. Their core case load is 0-5 year old children and their families. Working with families they can encourage healthier lifestyles and work in partnership with all other professionals to help families to this end. They are available for support and advice Monday to Friday 9.00 to 5.00 on 01963 32498.

The Balsam Nursery offers children from the age of 3 months to 5 years outstanding opportunities to thrive in an environment of self discovery and play. We celebrate the fact that all children are unique and have a diverse set of needs, preferences and learning styles. All the staff are dedicated to providing an environment that treats children as individuals.

Through regular reviews and observations each child has a tailored activity plan that is appropriate for their ability and learning style. With a mixture of free play and planned activities we follow the children’s lead at all times, giving them the freedom to take their learning in whatever direction they choose. The natural environment forms a major part of the practice offered, with all our children being encouraged to have respect not only for each other but also the natural world around them.

Links are in place with local Forest School teachers who encourage children to love the outdoors and have the freedom to enjoy taking controlled risks in their play. All developmental areas are treated equally which means individual creativity is never ignored. Children of all ages are encouraged to express themselves through art, dance, drama, story telling and music. No separate rooms exist for children of different ages. All children play and interact together which promotes family values and develops social and emotional behaviours.

With the needs & care requirements of families becoming more and more complex, the Balsam Nursery offers as much flexibility as possible.

Pre-determined sessions no longer exist, allowing blocks of hours to be booked as needed, starting and finishing as required. This ensures that parents spend as much time as possible with their children and only pay for the hours of care that they need.
