This very successful community transport scheme, based at the Balsam Centre has now been operating for 3 years in the Wincanton, Bruton and Castle Cary areas. The scheme operates a Ring and Ride door to door service for people who live in villages without transport or for those who are unable to access the normal bus service.

Last year the scheme was allocated a new bus by Somerset County Council to operate the Slinky service throughout the area. The new bus increases availability and improves comfort. Membership of the scheme costs £2 and the fares are very reasonable. Holders of bus passes travel free within our operating area.

We also operate a social car scheme and are currently in desperate need of volunteer drivers to take people to hospital appointments out of the area. A mileage rate is paid to cover expenses and drivers are covered by the scheme’s insurance.
