Changes Volunteer Coordinator Training

Free AIM accredited NVQ Level 2 and Level 3 course

Would you like to help people who are struggling with their mental health? Are you looking to move into mental health work as a career? Changes is offering a brilliant opportunity to take a free, highly regarded AIM accredited NVQ Level 2 and Level 3 course in coordinating peer-support meetings worth £1,800.
Peer-support meetings are powerful and effective in helping people to manage their mental health and wellbeing and move forward with their lives. By training as a volunteer coordinator, you will learn about yourself, others and how to support people to make the Changes they need to live a better life. We are keen to encourage people with lived experience of mental health challenges to become coordinators, including existing beneficiaries of Changes peer-support meetings.
Applicants will need to commit approximately six months to complete the training with a requirement to attend 30 peer-support meetings. Changes is supporting people at venues in Yeovil, Chard, Wincanton, Shepton Mallet and Merriott.

Spark Somerset: Partnerships Manager (Mental Health)

Part time | Salary £30,000-£32,000 per annum (FTE)

Spark Somerset are currently recruiting a part-time Partnerships Manager (Mental Health). Joint funded by Public Health Somerset and Open Mental Health (OMH), the Partnerships Manager will facilitate the Somerset Mental Health Network (SMHN), ensuring that voluntary, community, faith and social enterprise (VCFSE) groups who support the mental wellbeing of people across the county have an informed voice.

The Network will also provide opportunities for the sector to unite and work with other agencies in the promotion of mental health, prevention of mental health problems, and delivery of services.
​
The successful candidate will work closely with our partners in the OMH Alliance to help strengthen community services, influence and support commissioners, and enable systemic and cultural change in mental health provision across Somerset.
​
Additionally, the post-holder will conduct regular meetings that enhance knowledge and understanding, and provide collaboration opportunities for VCFSE organisations working to enhance the mental health and wellbeing of others.

The role of our Trustees is to ensure that the Balsam Centre is fulfilling its mission to help people lead healthy, happy lives, supporting our Executive Team and other Board colleagues as much as holding them to account. The Balsam Centre is proud to have an excellent reputation for the quality of our work, which is based on clear values and a special way of doing things. Our Trustees are stewards of our mission, reputation, quality, values and operating model.
We now have vacancies for Trustees to lead on finance, clinical services, strengthening the voice of the community in our work, and bringing the experience of people who use our services to the Board.

Minibus drivers, CAT Bus

Based in Wincanton, South Somerset Community Accessible Transport require part-time minibus drivers.
​
Hourly rate of pay is £13.68 including holiday pay (from 1 April 2025).
​
Hours are flexible but may involve some early morning, evening and weekend work.
​
Applicants must have a caring disposition and hold a full clean driver’s licence with D1 category. Suitable applicants will be subject to minibus test and DBS checks.

Bank Caretaker/Cleaner

The Balsam Centre is looking for a Bank Caretaker/ Cleaner to provide occasional cover for holiday and absence periods for the three other members of the caretaking team. This is a zero hours contract working 5.30pm-8.00pm, with some later lock-ups as needed.
