Communications Officer

Part time | £33,000 pro rata | Generous holiday allowance
The Balsam Centre is looking for a part-time Communications Officer to help shape how the charity connects with the community and shares its impact. You’ll create clear, engaging and professional communications that strengthen our public profile and support the delivery of our charitable aims.
We’re seeking a creative, articulate communicator with experience in organisational communications, confident in managing multiple priorities and comfortable working both independently and collaboratively. This is an ideal role for someone who would enjoy using their skills to make a real difference in a community-focused organisation.

Arts & Crafts Practitioner, The Growing Space

The Growing Space is a Social & Therapeutic Horticulture charity based in Wincanton, providing nature-based activities and services that help people overcome wide-ranging disadvantages and health inequalities. It works in close partnership with The Balsam Centre and serves a wide rural area.
The charity is now seeking an experienced arts and crafts practitioner with creative and artistic flair, as well as excellent knowledge of ecology, to engage people in creating items that incorporate natural materials, organic forms and nature-inspired textures to foster a therapeutic connection with the natural world.

Growing Space trustees

Sister charity to The Balsam Centre, The Growing Space helps people to improve their mental health through gardening, horticulture and getting into nature. It has a beautiful plot in the heart of Wincanton but operates across various sites in South Somerset.

With several recent successful grant applications and a clear plan for growth, The Growing Space is now looking for two new trustees to join its Board as it looks to the future.

Minibus drivers, CAT Bus

Based in Wincanton, South Somerset Community Accessible Transport require part-time minibus drivers.
​
Hourly rate of pay is £13.68 including holiday pay (from 1 April 2025).
​
Hours are flexible but may involve some early morning, evening and weekend work.
​
Applicants must have a caring disposition and hold a full clean driver’s licence with D1 category. Suitable applicants will be subject to minibus test and DBS checks.
