Outdoor learning
A big part of nursery life at Conkers is outdoor play and exploration. We are fortunate to have a large outdoor area where children can spend time learning, discovering and enjoying nature all year round, whatever the weather!

Growing garden
We are proud to have our own growing garden within our outdoor space. It gives children the chance to learn about plants, how they grow and where food comes from, while nurturing curiosity, responsibility and a connection to the natural world.

Taking home something they have helped to grow is a particularly rewarding experience for our children and their families.
The Balsam Gardens
We are fortunate to be surrounded by the beautiful grounds of The Balsam Centre, including gardens and a pond where children can explore frogspawn and watch tadpoles develop. They enjoy discovering wildflowers, spotting bees and butterflies, and observing the changing seasons throughout the year.

Mud village
Our mud village is a space for imaginative play, creativity and messy exploration.
Forest area
Children can venture out into the forest area to pick apples, sit on log stools, and search for birds and minibeasts.

Outdoor play is an essential part of early childhood development. It helps children build confidence, develop physical skills and foster a lifelong love of nature.
