Over 100 people enjoyed The Balsam Centre’s first ever Family Pride Day on Saturday 3 August.
The purpose of the day was to recognise and celebrate diversity in any form, as well as the common ties that connect us all. The event was the first of its kind in the town and was supported by 2BU-Somerset, a specialist support service that helps young members of the LGBTQ+ community.
Families enjoyed a host of fun activities including a very popular glitter hair bar, provided by Phoenix Hair Studio in Wincanton, friendship bracelet making, face painting and badge making among many other craft activities, pizza making, ice creams, dancing, and a meet and greet with firefighters from Wincanton Fire Station.
You can read more about the day on the BBC website. Family Pride Day will return next year!
